Watercolour art that inspires connection – committed to the creative process

Based in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, South Africa, Lani creates exclusive, original watercolour artwork, each inspired by the animal kingdom, the timeless charm of old buildings, and expressive moments. No copies. No prints. No editions. Just the original, one artwork, one collector.

A message from Lani:

Watercolour artist Lani and her fur-children Xena and SKye

As an artist, I honour the deep emotional connection and quiet dedication that shape the creative process.  While I cannot control how my work is received, I remain committed to the process itself.  Each viewer brings their own memories and meaning to a piece, often different from my own. But that is the beauty of art, there are no fixed rules, no singular truth, only resonance.

Materials and exclusivity:

Every piece, whether a large-scale painting or a small watercolour treasure is a one-of-a-kind original. I do not produce prints or reproductions of any kind. When you collect your artwork from me, you are receiving the only version. My commitment to quality extends beyond the creative process to the materials themselves. I work exclusively with artist-grade watercolour pigments with proven light-fastness ratings, ensuring the longevity and vibrancy of each piece. These materials are not produced locally in South Africa, and all my paints are carefully sourced from international manufacturers renowned for their quality. I use only acid-free, archival-quality paper to preserve the integrity of each artwork over time.

This dedication to craftsmanship and rarity is intentional. It reflects my belief that art should be both enduring and deeply personal; a singular moment of connection between artist and viewer.

Noteworthy achievements:

Honourable Mention, At Large: Animals on the Loose, Wild Heart Gallery (April 2024)

With careful time management, I hope to continue refining my style and thoughtfully consider future competitions and exhibitions to participate in.

Water colour is a diverse medium that humbles an artist, providing the freedom to explore and gently expand creative boundaries.
